An ode to the planet, the origin of words and data as the root of change.

I started compiling this newsletter with a simple premise, things I like, things that inspire me and work that speaks to me. This week is no different, but a theme has emerged from the very different pieces I’ve stumbled along, one of understanding and transparency as the root of change. Read on to see if this jumps out for you too.

My mind has been a little distracted of late, no surprise in a world of constant alerts, notifications and breaking news. This week I’m attempting to get back on track by limiting my phone time, especially the dreaded doom scroll in any quiet moment, and restarting a morning fitness challenge. Wish me luck…

Sizing up the catwalk

Things move fast in the fashion world. The catwalks for Spring/Summer 2024 are already history and the Vogue size inclusivity report provides us with an analysis of how size was represented in the season. The results are unsurprising, but the fact that a publication like Vogue is doing this work is a step forward.

Find your gossips

This piece combines a love of the outdoors, with a good origins of words story and a dose of feminism. Safe to say I’m a fan, thank you to Emily Lyons and Ellie Green FRGS for creating this for The British Mountaineering Council.

 

The planet is saving us

This piece for the Antarctic Science Foundation is a beautiful reminder of the power of words to crystallise your why and inspire people to take action.
