An action packed agenda, the Cadbury campaign making waves and taking work life balance to the extremes at Lumon.

Without them, I would have missed out on a brilliant event from the The North East Combined Authority this week. The People Potential and Opportunity morning at Newcastle’s Civic Centre had a fantastic lineup, including Patagonia’s Gabe Davies, North East mayor Kim McGuinness, and Square One Law’s Gill Hunter. As someone who’s written extensively on the Employee Value Proposition and topics like flexibility and diversity, it’s great to see this message being embraced by the business community and hear about all the fantastic things happening here in the North East.

It was also a good excuse to make use of the new Northumberland Line, which finally connects my home town to the bright lights of the big city. I’ll take local transport initiatives like this over the likes of HS2 any day!

Campaign of the week

The latest packaging change from Cadbury proves advertising is as much about using your own real estate as it is about buying space. This ingenious take on sharing is fun, relatable and feels personal without a big data angle. Social media gold.

Innie or outie?

While the debate on work-life balance rumbles on, Severance provides an eerie insight into what life could be like if we could completely separate our work ‘innies’ from our home ‘outies. The corporate spectre of the mysterious Lumon corporation, their revered leader and unknown objective offers an intriguing background to this severed workforce and their attempts to contact the outside world.
