Sunshine Fuelled Optimism

Folks, we made it. Goodbye, dark winter. Hello, longer days and warmer temperatures. And while the headlines are full of the usual doom and gloom, I can’t help but feel a tiny note of optimism shining through.

Maybe it’s because there are so many businesses out there that actively want to do good things and change their ways of working for the better. Or maybe it’s because we’re still basking in the glow of a new shiny website. Either way, we’re ready to bring some positivity back to the world of work. Will you join us?

To B or not to B

March saw the celebration of B Corp status, but while there are stalwarts like Finisterre pulling out all the stops with their 93-point status, there are also concerns as the adoption of B Corp status broadens. Does B Corp still carry the weight it used to? As an organisation considering this type of certification, we’d love to hear your experiences.

The secret to better work

A good brief crystallises the audience, the problem and the product or service that solves it. Ultimately they lead to better work, but the task isn’t as easy as it seems. This is a great read for many reasons, but how to write a brief is an invaluable reference point.

Feed the beast

So much of the social media and general marketing advice thrives on adopting the latest format, reacting to the latest trends and basically making it so much more complicated than it needs to be for the average business struggling with what to say. So here’s some free advice I gave to a friend of mine recently: post regularly, don’t overthink it and don’t be afraid to repeat yourself. Start there and you can’t go far wrong. Remember that most people don’t act on something the first time they see it, and unless the algorithm really, really loves you, most people won’t have seen the first post anyway.

Are you missing out on the Morning Economy?

You’ve heard of the night-time economy, but are mornings where the real shift is happening? It feels like this isn’t just one for warmer climates, but a bigger change in how we use our time, money and energy.

Beaches, gyms, running and walking routes, and PT sessions seem busiest in the mornings—often from 5 am. Socializing, whether platonic or romantic, is moving to running, swimming, and surf clubs. Coffee and herbal tea now lubricate socializing as much as beer, wine, and shots. Business deals that once happened over dinner might now happen over breakfast. Cafes that used to open at 7 am (at best) now open before 6 am—and are packed soon after.
