Fresh from a visit to Bristol’s inland surf park The Wave, I’m here to remind you that you can be good at new things even if you didn’t start them as early as you would have liked. You can be a sporty adult even if you were last to be picked for PE. You can start that podcast from scratch and build something new. In a world of free digital tools, embarrassment is the main cost of entry. You have to get comfortable with being a kook or a newbie and lean into the process of being a bit cringe before you get good. It’s all part of the journey.
Counting bricks
This injection of creativity proves that job ads don’t need to be dull. Bravo Ward Brickwork Ltd
Creator guilt
Sean Adams of Drowned In Sound fame (noughties indie kids unite) recently shared a post on creator guilt and the pressure we put on ourselves when turning a passion project into a business. I’m sure many of us relate hard to this one.
Ocean activism
The first Someday Sessions event (a new venture from Tom Bing and Sally McGee) brings Australian activist Lucy Small to the shores of Tynemouth. Lucy will be screening her award-winning film YAMA, and sharing her ideas about surfing, activism and how our voice as surfers matters. Get your tickets here.
And finally…
It’s practically cliche to mention innocent drinks when giving marketing inspiration, but I’m going to do it anyway. Earlier today I stumbled across their 404 page when being drawn to a link for their Compliment Generator (no judgement, please) and found myself engrossed in a history of their mistakes. I’m almost glad the link is broken.
